Avoiding Mergers.

This picture was chosen for avoiding mergers because as you can see, right behind the man with the mask on his face is a light post, and it just throws the picture off, sort of funky looking.

Framing.

I chose this photo for framing, i guess because you can see the cranes in the center of the picture and they're kind of surrounded but the buildings on either side.

Balance.

I picked this photo for balance because there's sort of this building symmetry thing going on here, but i also like how it isn't overly balanced or unreal looking almost, there's people flowing through the middle.

Lines.

I chose this picture for lines, considering the lines on the building, when looking at the picture they lead up to more destruction seen on the building.

The Rule of Thirds .

I chose this picture for the rule of thirds photo because this guy looks like he would be exactly on the bottom right imaginary line if there was one.

Simplicity.

I chose this picture because it was the "simplest" photo i could find, it has a blue sky as the back ground
so it doesn't interfere with the subject of the picture.

Unusual and Interesting Photo's; PART 1.

It is absolutely, unbelievably oooooo-mazing. I'm wondering though just how exactly how he was able to do this. & he's obviously super creative.

Uhm, the only way i can think of is to slow the shutter down to where he was able to move around and get different angles of the subject , or maybe taking several pictures and combining them.

One building i know of that would be really cool to take this type of picture of is the frost bank downtown, i thought of this one imparticular because if you look at it from the side it sort of looks like an owl, another is maybe my new church they're building near riverside that has a huge steeple & yes, i have an okay access to both.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics 2.

A. This i think is the most unethical picture, because of them changing her body which is stupid she's not allowed to have curves or what ? & they wonder why girls are starving themselves all the time, to ''try" and match up to all the other girls on the covers of the rest of the magazines.

B. This one doesn't seem as bad to me, this is everyday stuff, i mean they do this to yearbook pictures sometimes, well not teeth but blemishes and stray hairs.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics.

A. In the United States, the first day of April is April Fool's Day. In Iran a photographer is taking pictures of the new cabinet, but when it gets through to the newspaper someone has changed it, removing the two ladies Limor Livnat, and Sofa Landver, replacing them with two men creating an all men cabinet. This is a terminal offense, he lost his job and credibility, basically they're getting as to you can't just change certain things in photos just because you want to of feel like it.

B. This i guess is as big deal because these aren't his pictures in the first place, but because they aren't fun, or play around pictures, he's messing with the former President, missile shooting and stuff like that.

National Geographic Warm Up .

I loooooove black & white photos .
But , its not just black it has like this darkness about it that's super cool . Annnnd , the sand looks pretty cool flying up under his feet .

If i had to take a picture to enter for this contest , i would want to take a picture of one of the many homeless people downtown , them & they're sign, i saw one once that said "everything helps , even a smile" stuff like that is beautiful to me .

Touching People .

I think it's really neat i would have never thought up something like that , sometimes some of the not so "pretty" pictures are the most beautiful .

Well since i'm interested in photography, i'd probably do it , help him out , because i know if i was taking the picture i'd what the person to participate , but i think it would be really awkward & i'd probably do the whole "i'm-a-man-so-i'll-just-sling-my-hand-over-his-shoulder" thing too .

Something that i think would be fun to shoot is people's "ugly faces" , just going up to random people & asking them to make their ugliest face for me i think that would hilarious .

Uh , to be a honest they aren't very "nice" to me personally , and i think that's what make them some of the best they're not supposed to "cute" , they're REAL , they are on the other hand enjoyable to look at.

40 Greatest Photos Ever Taken .

I picked the photo mostly because the puppy , but i think that so cool she's allowed to see her dog when when she probably feels so trapped , it shows we can get so attached to things .

like that its at a low angle just how you would be to pet a dog & condensation on the window got my attention .

I think this photo made top 40 because it IS touching , most people if not really trapped , still know what it feels like , & the puppy comes close to home for the girl i think.

I picked this photo because of the boys facial expression in the picture it, immediately caught my attention .

You can see the background , lots of soldiers, but its focused in on the one soldier and the boy , & i like how you see the boys face from the side instead of straight on it has more of an effect in my opinion .

I think this photo made top 40 because it had something to do with Memorial day , a really special one at that .

I picked this photo because it so obvious to me that this little girl and her mom had just be reunited & family should be everything to you , i think.

I think it was taken at an airport which make since if they're being reunited , i like that there's a guy in the background just going about his business but the mom doesn't care she's on the ground embracing her daughter .

I think this photo made top 40 ,  because everybody in America is grateful for the people that go to war for us & it's not always like this , having you mom or dad come back from fighting .

Great Black & White Photographers; PART 2.

Walker Evans , was born on November 3 , 1903 , in St. Louis Missouri . He was a graduate at Phillips Academy . He worked for FSA( Farm Security Administration ) , RA ( Resettlement Administration ) , & a staff writer at 'Time". His goal in life was to make pictures literate , authoritative , & transcendent . He came from an affluent or wealthy family . He started photography in 1928 . Some of the books by Walker Evans are "Let Us Now Praise Famous Men" , "The Photographer's Eye" , "Something Permanent" , & " Many Are Called" . He died on April 10 , 1975 at the age of 71 .

These are two of my favorite pictures by Walker Evans :

Red , Metal & Happy . (:

Red Shmed. (:
I think i accomplished framing, although not meaning to, you can kind of see some houses inside the square and it sort of looks framed.

Happy!
This picture kind of stinks as a whole, but it might could be simplicity because of the plain background.

Camera History & Parts .

Visible spectrum : the range of wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation that you usually see .
Electromagnetic spectrum : the whole spectrum , including electric , magnetic , and visible radiation .
Diaphragm : a plate with a whole in the center of it , thats placed on the axis of an optical instrument , like a camera that controls how much light comes in .
Image sensor : a device that changes a picture into an electronic signal .

Aperture : an opening in which light travels
Shutter : a device that alllow light to come in through the aperture for a specific amount of time .
Exposure : the amount of light allowed to come in and hit a certain area .
Depth of field : the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene , that appear sharp .
F-stop : the ratio of the lens focal length to the diameter of the entrance pupil .
Focal length : the measurement of how strongly the system converges or diverges light .

In the front i see of course the on and off power switch , i also see a twisting button that i believe changes modes , there is another twisty button above the power switch but i don't know what it does , the last button i see is next to the lens and i don't know what that one does either .

In the back i see a button with an asteric , another one with a "Av" which handels aperture priority another with a camera that lets you switch to viedo , one with  "Q" , another that says "disp." , i see four arrows with a button in the middle labled "set" , a triangle that lets you playback your pictures , a menu button , & last but definitley not least a button with a little box in it .

"The Camera".

The camera obscura effect was achieved by being in a completely dark room and having one whole in a wall , a light would be focused through it and you would see the image upside down on the opposite wall .

During the 17th century, Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens , perfected the understanding of optics and the process of making better glass lenses .

The parts of the first modern camera created by Niepce, were film, a dark box and a glass lens .

Modern day cameras are like the old ones in that the light still passes through the lens into the camera and exposes the film .

Digital cameras use an electronic sensor, called a CCD to capture an image.

The difference between auto and program modes is that for auto, your camera will control flash and exposure , on program you control flash and exposure along with some other settings.

Portrait mode is used for blurring out the background as to focus more on the center of the picture. It blurs the background , by using the fastest available lens setting.

The sports mode is used for sports or anytime your trying to capture a frozen sort of looking picture. It works by using the highest shutter speed possible.

You should do a half press on the shutter because, it allows you to see the picture in focus before you take it.

This symbol tells you that you have the no flash mode on. You might use it when it's really bright out
or when you just don't want a flash on the picture you're taking.

This symbol means your in auto flash mode the camera will automatically flash whenever it thinks you don't have enough light, you'd probably use it in a regular picture , or if you didn't know whether you needed a flash or not.

If there is too much light in your photo, it will look washed out .

If there is not enough light your picture will be too dark.

A stop is a measurement of relative light .

If there were two suns instead of one like earth, it'd be one stop brighter .

The new planet would be two stops brighter if it had four suns instead of two .

A longer shutter speed gives a lot of light .

A shorter shutter speed give less light .

The aperture controls how much light comes in , making it wider causes more light to come through , & smaller means less .

If you want to adjust the aperture , just balance it out by doing the opposite of what you just did , giving or taking , with the same number of stops .

Great Photo's.

This photo was taken by: Walker Evans.

This photo was taken by: Lothar Wolleh.

This photo was taken by: William Klien.

First Photo's .

This picture in my opinion was the best , because she's sort of looking down , which portrays a shyness about her, that i think might be just bit true.

This isn't a horrible picture, but is supposably the worst out of the pictures i took, the only thing i don't like about this picture is her expression, it kind of says "whatever."
