Front Pages of the World.

1. My favorite newspaper front page is American News from South Dakota because i feel that they have a variety of fonts that correspond with their pictures.

2. My favorite headline from this front page is "Youngsters Help Hub City Hospital" I'm interested in it because i'd like to know how and what the kids helped do at their local hospital.

3. They're are four stories on the front page of my favorite newspaper.

4. What most newspapers have in common is that they are very long and narrow, they all have one dominate photo and headline at the top of the front page and they all have some sort of other connections as way of contact such as a website.

5. Something that varies in newspapers' front covers is the font and layout design, some pages have sideline stories while others do not.

Newspaper Design Notes.

Broadsheet- tall and narrow

Tabloid- short and square-ish

Folio- contains reference information (page number, name, date etc.)

Byline- name of writer and their position (title)

Lines- separate the stories

Teasers- small sections that preview to what's inside

Info graphic- way to display information visually

Lenses and Photography Vocab.

I would use a telephoto lens to take a picture at a concert.

I would use a prime lens to take a picture of a unique looking flower.

I would use a wide-angle lens to take a picture of a landscape.

Depth of Field- pertains to the range of distance that appears acceptably sharp. You can use depth of field to take better photos by blurring out your background.

Light- a source that brings the picture to life depending on where it comes from and how much there is of it. You can use light to make your photos better by having the correct amount of exposure.

Shadows- can be effectively used to focus a viewer's attention. You can use shadows to improve your photos by covering what is unneeded or distracting in a picture.

Diffusion- the action of spreading light, as to reduce harsh shadows or soften the look of artificial light. You can use diffusion to make your photos better by covering up the flash with a thin sheet of paper.

Exposure- the measured amount of light allowed on each section of a photo. You can make your photos better by making sure the amount of light let in or exposure is right.

Aperture- the size of the hole on a camera in which a certain amount of light is let in. You can improve your pictures by changing the aperture in different lighting situations.

Shutter speed- is the speed in which the aperture is allowed to open and then close. You can take better pictures by changing your shutter speed according to if an object is in motion.

ISO- is the sensitivity to light. Your pictures will be better if you keep the ISO low, otherwise photos will be grainy.

My favorite cover.

This is my favorite cover, first of all because it's a candid which I love, it's natural and real, and the photo shows emotion and feeling. Obviously you can see that they've just been married, but you can also see how happy they are. They weren't put into any certain or awkward positions, but a good photographer was able to catch this moment anyways. Also having the flower girls in the background creates a cool depth of field situation.

Magazine tips.

1. Emotionally irresistible (that’s the image’s appeal)
2. Arousing curiosity (that’s to pull the casual glancer in)
3.Check out the suggestions about the four type sizes. A magazine is first and foremost a physical product, so experiment with it as such and be sure to make the most of its capabilities. Unfortunately, every decision will demand a price. Example: The spectacular, shiny coverstock that helps the colors vibrate is so slippery that the magazine falls on the floor. To whom are you catering? Youngsters don’t mind bending down to retrieve it, but seniors will let it lie there, because it is too damn much trouble. It is all really psychology, isn’t it? Well, of course it is! Publishing is a form of person-to-person conversation. The cover triggers it.
4. If the cover pops out from its background, don’t weaken it by fussing with itYou’ve probably done something courageous (like that all-green Swedish Golf Digest) and deserve congratulations. Leave well enough alone.
5. It glows in vivid colors that will inevitably turn disappointingly dull when printed in ink. A hard-copy printout may be closer.

Next year I'm pretty sure i want to be in the class for commercial photography. I really enjoy taking pictures and feel that this is the right class for me. I also would love to learn how to take different sorts of pictures, involving detailed work. Skills I could one day use if i were to become a professional photographer.

Welcome Back!

I liked this picture mostly because of the weird shapes that are created by the real world and are included in this picture. Also this picture looks so 3-D in a way, and it creates a cool symmetric look.

I like this picture because the artist took something ordinary, something people do everyday and made it sort of creative in his own way and the photographer was able to capture a beautiful scene with this inside of it.

I like this picture because the fly on the wall thing is an expression that we as people use constantly, possibly without the understanding of it but this picture allows you to see from a point of view that you are not usually able.

I think this song Gangman Style was a really big hit, if not the best song of 2012. I chose this song because i know it sounds really catchy and i know that after i had someone show it to me other people began to see and talk more about it and it just sort of caught on fire from there.

I chose this movie as the best one of 2012 because i honestly think it was, it involves everything a movie should and everything anybody could want one to. Something that i think attracts most people is the fact that its about superheros, I mean everyone loves superheros, and it has a little bit of everything, action, suspense, love & humor.

I think this was the biggest news of 2012, mostly because something like this hasn't happened in a while and to me it shouldn't be taken lightly. It's a really big deal, you don't just mess with something like peoples lives.

I think Obama was the most important person of the year 2012, mostly because he is the president and his actions affect our near future. Also everyone that chooses to has a part in his election, if you're old enough to vote you can and that will have a small impact on who it will be that will represent us as a whole.

I think the iPhone 5 coming out could have been said to be the top entertainment story. It kind of shows how fast technology is now really speeding up, we can't quite keep up with it. Even if not all the fancy iPhones are involved in your life, some kind, plenty of technology is. And its increasing amazingly.

1. Something I'll remember that took place during my holiday would definitely be staying in my pajamas and watching movies all day, pretty much the whole break.

2. One of my resolutions for the year of 2013 is to try to stay focused more, and not to slag off, i do this a lot easily.

3. In 2013 i am looking forward to learning how to shoot in manual and learn new things about the camera to improve my pictures.
